Resumo

A basaltic submarine eruption is occurring since the end of 1998 approximately 10 km W of Terceira Island. Throughout this period the volcanic activity has displayed different intensities. From seismic stations located on Terceira island relevant seismo-volcanic records were acquired in order to apply different techniques to obtain source parameters. Seawaves registered are sometimes strong enough to mask the volcanic signs once the seismic stations are located near the seashore. Their spectrum analysis, waveforms and the constant frequency between two consecutive events allow distinguishing those registers. It is possible that tide effects may have some influence in the eruptive cycles.
